The Feast of Trumpets and the 10 Days of Awe

Also known as Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets is a time of announcement. It is believed by many that the Trumpets were sounding in Jerusalem when the angels were announcing to the shepherds that the Messiah was born in Bethlehem. The prophet Joel also proclaimed a day when the trumpets would sound to announce the coming of the Day of the Lord (Joel 2:1). Many believers hold the eschatological view that the Messiah will return on the Feast of Trumpets. KLM has the belief that Yom Teruah will announce His return, but it may not necessarily be on that day. Either way, we are told to await His return eagerly and to be like the five wise virgins waiting for the Bridegroom.

The Feast of Trumpets is also the 31st day of the Days of Teshuvah and the first day of the Ten Days of Awe leading up to the Day of Atonement. It’s time to prepare ourselves for the return of the King. “Test yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Examine yourselves! Or don’t you know yourselves—that Messiah Yeshua is in you? Unless, of course, you failed the test. (2 Corinthians 13:5).”
