I’ve had people question what I believe.  I’ve been called all sorts of names and have been told that I deny Christian orthodoxy.  It’s time to set the record straight and silence the liars.

I was born and raised in the Assemblies of God Church.  And, yes, I’m a preacher’s kid.  Since I’m familiar with the A/G doctrine, I’ll compare myself to their list of 16 fundamental truths. You can find the complete list here: AG Statement of Fundamental Truths.  Through this list and my responses, you can make up your mind if I follow what the Bible says or if I am preaching my own doctrine.

This will be part one of this list.

  1. THE SCRIPTURES INSPIRED
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
    2 Timothy 3:15-17
    1 Thessalonians 2:13
    2 Peter 1:21

To this I say, absolutely.  I have always believed in the inerrancy of Scripture and that it is God’s Word to mankind.  Years ago, I had to defend myself from a guy who accused me of not believing in the infallibility of the Scriptures.  I posted a link to the Chicago Statement of Biblical Inerrancy from 1978 and told him that’s what I believed.  He wouldn’t say if he affirmed the Statement or not.  I won’t post the Statement here because it is fairly long.  You can search for it if you are interested in reading it. I may address the Statement in a later post.

  1. THE ONE TRUE GOD
The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
    Deuteronomy 6:4
    Isaiah 43:10,11
    Matthew 28:19
    Luke 3:22

Check.  I have defended this point more than once even though there are those who say I have done otherwise.  I will share an article later that defends the deity of Yeshua (Jesus). It is very well written, so I will let that speak for me.

Also, on this point, the A/G Statement has several subpoints under the heading The Adorable Godhead that I will only list here. For the explanations of each point and the Scriptures denoted, you can check out the link mentioned above.

THE ADORABLE GODHEAD
a. Terms Defined
b. Distinction and Relationship in the Godhead
c. Unity of the One Being of Father, Son and Holy Spirit
d. Identity and Cooperation in the Godhead
e. The Title, Lord Jesus Christ
f. The Lord Jesus Christ, God with Us
g. The Title, Son of God
h. Transgression of the Doctrine of Christ
i. Exaltation of Jesus Christ as Lord
j. Equal Honor to the Father and to the Son

  1. THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare:

    His virgin birth,
    Matthew 1:23
    Luke 1:31
    Luke 1:35

    His sinless life,
    Hebrews 7:26
    1 Peter 2:22

    His miracles,
    Acts 2:22
    Acts 10:38

His substitutionary work on the cross,
    1 Corinthians 15:3
    2 Corinthians 5:21

His bodily resurrection from the dead,
    Matthew 28:6
    Luke 24:39
    1 Corinthians 15:4

His exaltation to the right hand of God.
    Acts 1:9
    Acts 1:11
    Acts 2:33
    Philippians 2:9-11
    Hebrews 1:3

Yes, again. I’ve already defended my position on the deity of Yeshua (Jesus). I think there is plenty of evidence for it.

I’ll go ahead and end part 1 here. There are 13 more statements to go.
